What is the Answer to Life?

Know that God is the One who created you.
Gen 1:1 declares, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”   Since God has created you, you are responsible to Him.  Many believe that they have a right to be happy but the real question to ask, “Is God happy with me?  Someday all will be judged by the King eternal, the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 17:31).
Know that you have sinned.
Rom 3:23 states, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Every human being has sinned against God. A sin is an offense against God that can be committed in thought, word or deed.  Man’s sin problem is so bad that Isaiah confesses, “But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away” (Isa 64:6).  This is something that man’s deceptive heart does not wish to recognize, so denial of this condition is often espoused but the apostle John says, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8).
Know that your sin will keep you from God.  Romans 6:23 pronounces “For the wages of sin is death.” Because you have sinned, you deserve to die and go to hell.  Though this is not a popular subject today, Jesus talked more about hell than He did about heaven.  Jesus describes hell by warning, “where Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched” (Mark 9:44).  God is a holy and just judge who
must punish sin.  As the writer of Hebrews exclaimed, “For our God is a consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:29).  Denial of reality never changed reality.  History is littered with such fools.  Far better to recognize reality and deal with it accordingly.
Know that God has provided a substitute for sinthe Lord Jesus Christ.
As John the Baptist declared, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29)!  Ever since man had sinned on earth, God has given him a picture in the sacrificial lamb (Gen 3:21) that a perfect substitute must come and pay for sin.  Isaiah himself announced “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed” (Isa 53:5).  The eternal God, the Lord Jesus Christ became a man, yet never sinned and went to the cross to stand in the place for sinners and pay for sin.  As 2 Cor 5:21 declares, “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
Know that you must turn from your sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 6:23 states, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Notice that eternal life is said to be a gift.  A gift is not something you work for but is freely given to the one who receives.  Have you seen your sin, your rebellion, your unworthiness?  Then simply repent (turn) from your sin and believe (trust) upon the Lord Jesus Christ.  Believe that you can do nothing for your salvation but that Christ has paid the full price for your sin at Calvary. Faith alone in the completed work of Jesus Christ is the only way you can be right with God.  Otherwise you must go to hell to pay for you sin for God is a righteous judge.  As the Lord Himself declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). Please note that faith in God does not save.  There are many in Hell at this very moment who have believed in God.  It is trusting in Christ’s completed work at Calvary that saves one.  There and there alone sin is dealt with once for all.
Know that you were created to live for God’s glory.
1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”  God made His creatures to glorify Him.  This gives meaning and purpose to life.  Once the Lord has saved you, you have a new mission to no longer live for self but for Jesus Christ in all that you do and think.  Seek out a good Bible believing church and use your gifts there. Obey the Lord in baptism (water immersion) which is the first step of obedience after faith.  Nothing we can do can save us but if we are saved, good works will follow.  As Hebrews 12:14 warns “Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:” If there is no holiness in your life there is no heaven in your future.
