ABOUT OUR CHURCH

How the church started
Three families, the Jones, Motters, & Radabaughs, left the liberal church they were attending. Ted Motter, after meeting with the minister (who denied the writings of Paul as being inspired and denied the virgin birth of Jesus Christ) said,
"If it is the Lord's will, we will start a Bible believing church in the area."
OUR PASTOR

Pastor Scott has served the Lord in local church ministry for over 30 years in Pastoral Ministry.
Scott and Maggie both have a passion for teaching God’s Word and enjoy connecting Biblical
truth to practical living. While serving recently with Baptist Children’s Home, the Kigars
ministered in their local church in various ways; including Scott as an Elder, Maggie in music
ministry, and together as Youth Leaders. They are both thankful for God’s undeserved grace in
saving them and for the privilege of serving Lemoyne Baptist Church.

The Kigars have been married for 35 years and love doing life together. They are avid birders so
“spotting” them in the woods with a pair of binoculars around their necks would not be an
uncommon sighting. Scott and Maggie also enjoy playing games, going to museums, and browsing
antique stores. Maggie loves coffee (the stronger the better) and Pastor Scott likes to cook and
enjoys trying new dishes.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
2 Tim 3:16-17
Inspired By God

The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired of God, are without error as originally written, are the authoritative Word of God and the only true rule of faith and conduct for the Christian.

Genesis 3:1-6, Romans 5:12, Romans 3:10-19
The Fall of Man

By Adam’s disobedience to God, all mankind is born in sin and all are sinners by nature and practice.

Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16-17; John 4:24
God, Three Persons In One

There is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and these three are co-eternal and of equal dignity and power.

Romans 5:8, Romans 6:23
The Penalty of Sin

Every sinner will experience physical death and separation from God.

1 Peter 2:24, Ephesians 1:7
The Perfect Work of Jesus

Jesus Christ’s vicarious and substitutionary death through the shedding of His blood on the cross of Calvary paid the penalty of our sin. All who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood.

Romans 8:24, Hebrews 7:25, Hebrews9:24, 1 John 2:1
Our Advocate

Jesus resurrected from the dead and ascended to the right hand of the Father. His present ministry is in heaven as High Priest and Advocate until His personal and imminent return when all things shall finally be subjected to Him.

John 3:15-16, John 5:24, John 6:40, 47
Eternal Life

Those who trust in Jesus receive eternal life.

Romans 8:9, John 16:8, John 14: 15-18, I Corinthians 6:19-20, Ephesians 1:3-14
The Holy Spirit

The third person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit, convicts men of sin, regenerates, baptizes, indwells, seals and sets believers apart unto holy living; The Holy Spirit keeps and empowers believers day by day; He is the teacher of the word of God and a guide for our daily life.

1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Ephesians 1:18-23, Acts 2:41-42
The Local Church

The church is an elect company of believers. It is the body of Christ, having been formed by the work of the Holy Spirit in all those who trust Christ as their Savior.
